Temporary 100-percent deduction for business meal expenses.

In Notice 2021-25, the IRS and Treasury Department recently offered details and guidance on a provision in the COVID-19 relief package passed by Congress last December, which temporarily allows a 100 percent deduction for food or beverages from restaurants through the end of 2022.

The goal of the provision, included as part of the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Relief Act of 2020, is to help restaurants that have been hit hard by the pandemic while also giving businesses an expanded tax break for business meal expenses. The Notice is effective for amounts paid or incurred after December 31, 2020 and before January 1, 2023.

We are excited to announce the recent hiring of Gil Saunders to the position of Manager of Administration & Affinity Programs. Gil is a relocation industry professional and attorney with over three decades of experience providing guidance and advice to clients and their transferring employees on all aspects of their employee relocation and talent mobility programs. He is a prior recipient of Worldwide ERC’s Meritorious Service Award and a previous member of Worldwide ERC’s tax and legal committee.

In his new role, Gil is responsible for business performance in the areas of compliance and risk management, quality assurance, and contract management. In addition, he is responsible for the strategic growth and development of Signature Relocation’s Affinity Programs.

In his spare time, Gil enjoys playing golf, camping and spending time with family and friends.
